Masai Mara

South Western Kenya is the heartland of the Masai. At the heart of these lands is the Masai Mara Game Reserve, widely considered to be Africa’s greatest wildlife reserve. The Mara comprises 200 sq miles of open plains, woodlands and riverine forest. Contiguous with the plains of the Serengeti, the Mara is home to a breathtaking array of life. The vast grassland plains are scattered with herds of Zebra, Giraffe, Gazelle, and Topi. The Acacia forests abound with Birdlife and Monkeys. Elephants and Buffalo wallow in the wide Musiara Swamp. The Mara and Talek rivers are brimming with Hippos and Crocodiles.

The Masai Mara is Kenya's most celebrated game park, it offers the possibility of seeing "the big five" and many other species of game. Each year the Mara plays host to the world’s greatest natural spectacle, the Great Wildebeest Migration from the Serengeti. From July to October, the promise of rain and fresh life giving grass in the north brings more than 1.3 million Wildebeest together into a single massive herd. They pour across the border into the Mara, making a spectacular entrance in a surging column of life that stretches from horizon to horizon. At the Mara River they mass together on the banks before finally plunging forward through the raging waters, creating a frenzy as they fight against swift currents and waiting crocodiles.
The wildebeest bring new life to the Mara, not just through their cycle of regeneration of the grasslands, but for the predators who follow the herds.

4 Days Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara Bird Watching.

This safari takes you through three very different game viewing experiences: Aberdare, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara.

Day 1:Nairobi/Aberdare.

0800 hrs - From Nairobi, take a 2.5 hour drive to Outspan. You pass through the industrial town of Thika and the intensely cultivated farms of the central Kenya. . Dinner and overnight at Outspan or Similar.

Day 2 : Aberdare/Lake Nakuru.

After breakfast at Outspan, . then drive to Lake Nakuru in time for lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge.  Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru/Masai Mara.

0800 hrs- Drive to via the Great Rift Valley to arrive at Masai Mara in time for lunch at Mara Sarova Camp. 1530 hrs- go for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

DAY 4: Masai Mara.

0630 hrs - Early morning game drive in the Mara. Return to the lodge for breakfast. You spend the rest of the morning at leisure. . Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 5: Masai Mara-Nairobi.

Early Morning game drive. Breakfast at the lodge. Depart for Nairobi arriving in time for Lunch. Drop at the Airport for a flight back home.
